Kuwait has announced a significant increase in health insurance fees for expatriates, effective December 23, 2025. The new fees are part of broader residency and visa reforms.
Key Changes:
- The annual health insurance fee for residency renewals and certain visas is raised to KD 100, up from KD 50.
- This fee is required for all expatriates in Kuwait, including workers in government and private sectors, investors, students, dependents, and more.
- Entry visas also require health coverage, with fees ranging from KD 5 to KD 10 for specific visa categories.
Exemptions:
- No fees for foreign wives of Kuwaitis, children of Kuwaiti women married to foreigners, or diplomatic staff.
- Domestic workers: No fee for up to 3 per Kuwaiti family; KD 10 for the 4th and beyond.
What This Means:
- No residency or entry visa will be issued without proof of valid health insurance.
- The move aims to standardize health coverage for expatriates in Kuwait.
